Hotels in Germany

Situated in the heart of Munich, the Mandarin Oriental, Munich is a tranquil haven of Neo-Renaissance charm and sophistication, providing personalized service of top quality. This highly-acclaimed hotel sets new standards for luxurious accommodations in Munich’s finest historical setting.
The hotel enjoys a privileged location in the heart of Munich, in the midst of the the Old Town, a short distance away from numerous museums, the Bavaria Opera House, theaters and the famous Hofbraeuhaus (beer-hall and gardens). This area is considered Munich’s most exclusive district, famous for its superb restaurants, designer boutiques, boulevard cafés, fine art galleries and picturesque gourmet markets. Special amenities of the Mandarin Oriental Munich include its restaurant Mark’s, that's received the 1 Michelin Star Award, and its rooftop terrace with a heated swimming pool and spectacular, panoramic views across Munich in the direction of the Alps.

Following a thorough remodeling in 2007, the Mandarin Oriental's interiors have gained a special ambiance. The most exquisite are the Mandarin and the Oriental Suites. Those suites feature a decor that uses exotic Santos rosewood, to create the rooms' furnishings, wall-panels and doors. The guest rooms feature centrally-adjustable lighting, high speed internet/wireless LAN connection, an individually-adjustable air conditioning system, B&O flat-screen TV's (with 32 and 50 inch screens) receiving more than 400 channels and integrated DVD player, CD players and radios, laptop connection to the TV sets. The most up-to-date equipment is featured in the marble-decorated bathrooms, that come equipped with flat-screen TV's and state-of-the-art sprinkler systems.

Munich, July 5, 2007 – After a redesign period of only three months, the 48 guest rooms, 25 suites and hotel corridors of Mandarin Oriental, Munich now shine in new splendor. Around 7.5 million EUR was spent to renovate the second to seventh floor and the renovation of the hotel's façade.

The highlights of the refurbishment are the exclusive Mandarin Suite (325 m2) and the Oriental Suite (70 m2), with a striking, contemporary Asian design that makes use of premium materials and technical refinements. The new hothouses of the 2 suites are especially noteworthy, because they were made through inclusion of the patios. Featring sliding-glass doors, they ensure a spacious, bright ambiance and a spectacular view of Munich’s attractions. Ancient Asiatic works of art that are thousands of years old and valued at 3.8 million EUR make these suites private museums.

The guestrooms have also received an Asiatic flair thanks to exotic plants, priceless artworks from Far East and Oriental decor that reflects the heritage of this luxurious hotel chain. An eternal and subtle interaction between the Oriental and the Occidental has also been made through the cherry wood furniture in the neo-Biedermeier fashion, featuring workdesks, chests of drawers and tables. The latest technology, including B&O flat-screen TV's with more than 500 programmes confirms the hotel's dedication to the guests' satisfaction.

Lars Wagner, General Manager of Mandarin Oriental, Munich, comments the refurbishment: “Very individualized and highly professional service combined with innovative technology, an exclusive ambience and the very highest quality materials ensure that our guests enjoy a memorable, comfortable stay including all the modern conveniences – a perfect blend of service and contemporary hospitality.”

The architect Ralf Clausen of CM Design says: “Our goal was to create a combination of a modern and high-quality design while at the same time copying of the art-deco forms to make a sensation of well-being in the midst of true artworks, that date back thousands of years.”
